La videoinstallazione monocanale, è il tentativo di cogliere un aspetto della personalità della celebre pittrice rinascimentale nata a Cremona, prendendo come spunto due delle sue opere più note Partita a scacchi del 1555, olio su tela e Fanciullo morso da un granchio, disegno a carboncino e matita su carta cerulea del 1554. Ispirandosi ai soggetti delle due opere, dove compaiono rispettivamente un sorriso spensierato sul volto di una delle sorelle dell’artista e una smorfia di dolore sul volto di un giovane fanciullo per il morso di un granchio, troviamo nell’inquadratura di sinistra il sorriso e la spensieratezza e in quella di destra il dolore fisico e il ribrezzo in un loop atemporale infinito. Il doppio, due estremi tra i quali si manifesta la personalità di una donna eccezionale per il suo tempo.
The single-channel video installation wants to capture an aspect of the personality of the famous Renaissance painter born in Cremona, taking as inspiration from two of her best-known works Chess Game of 1555, oil on canvas and Child bitten by a crab, charcoal drawing and pencil on cerulean paper from 1554. Inspired by the subjects of the two works, where respectively, a carefree smile appears on the face of one of the artist’s sisters and a pained grimace on the face of a young boy from a crab bite. We find in the shot on the left the smile and light-heartedness and in the shot on the right the physical pain and disgust in an infinite timeless loop. The double, two extremes between which the personality of an exceptional woman for her time manifests itself.
